What’s up!?

I am working remotely as a full-time Product Designer at Ubersuggest.

I’ve always had a love for design. I knew I was going to pursue this career path since I was… 7? Other than design, I also discovered my passion for coding at the age of 16 from customizing girly Blogger themes. Embarrassing, I know… but hey, gotta start somewhere, right?

Oh and… if you haven’t already noticed from my picture, I am also a foodie, specializing in dessert nomming. #icecream4life… Aside from food, I also love photography, travelling, and exploring the ourdoors. All of the proof is on my Instagram, it’s a... different kind of portfolio.

Objectives:

Develop skills in not only design, but also interpersonal and management skills.
Continuously challenge myself to learn as much as possible in various aspects of my work.
Doing more problem solving that will contribute to a greater impact in the organization.

Jan 2021 – Present

Product Designer

Ubersuggest — Remote

As a product designer, I participate in product strategy discussions and work closely with the product team to determine the upcoming work for the roadmap. I collaborate with the Product Manager on initiatives that are on our team’s roadmap, where I’m given the problem space and a set of data. We determine the objectives and I take the plan, start discovery, and prepare for delivery. I also work with the engineering team to ensure my designs are feasible and well-scoped for a sprint’s worth of work. In addition to the day-to-day work, I also help with managing and mentoring interns whenever we take on practicum students.

Senior Interactive Designer

Unbounce — Vancouver, BC, Canada

I undertook more senior responsibilities in addition to my previous role. While advocating for the brand within the company, I helped make sure the work we produced adhered to our brand standards by providing guidance and mentorship to other members of the team. I was accountable for my projects as a design lead for their entire lifecycle from conception to completion. I was also responsible for presenting each stage to stakeholders and the team with a rationale for my design decisions. Using design thinking as a guiding principle, I found opportunities to introduce it to influence the process of collaborative projects.

Interactive Designer

As an Interactive Designer in the creative team, I was mainly responsible for the creative strategy, art direction, UX, and design execution of my projects. My work was mainly marketing projects, such as Unbounce.com, digital marketing campaigns (landing pages and promotional assets). I did a little bit of web development as well when there was an opportunity.

Junior Creative Designer

PressReader — Richmond, BC, Canada

I was a junior creative designer in the B2B and OEM marketing team, where I was mainly responsible for the digital aspects of the design work, such as creating email marketing and landing pages. I also designed presentation layouts and infographics, as I also worked with WordPress child theming for the company’s blog.

Design Research Assistant

Emily Carr University of Art + Design — Vancouver, BC, Canada

I was a front-end mobile application designer for Drive Business Intelligence. I worked with two other designers with the same role. My responsibilities included design research, front-end design of the mobile application, which involved developing the information architecture, wireframes, mockups and prototyping, as well as creating the style guide of the end product for developers.

I was in a 3-month User Experience Design course at Brainstorm. The course guided us on UX principles and best practices at each stage of the design process. As we were going through each step, we were applying our learnings to our final project.

I was in the communication design program for 3 years after studying for 1 year in the Foundation Program. Although my major was in communication design, I also learned interaction design (UX, UI), web development (WordPress development), as well as motion graphic design.

Expertise:

While I'm a multidisciplinary designer, my expertise doesn't only lie in various areas of design (UX, UI, branding, etc.), but also web development. In addition to technical skills, design strategy is a core part of my work, including design thinking, research, design process, and problem-solving.
